Role: The Insight & Design Team is an integrated combination of service, content, brand, and program designers tasked with crafting excellent services for Veterans across all three administrations within VA. We conducted qualitative research methods, human centered design, and design thinking methodologies to identify, prioritize and design high value product and service opportunities. We looked across all delivery channels, lines of business, and the three VA administrations for seamless experiences: digital, contact center, print, in person, and brick-and-mortar.

As Acting Team Lead, I was a liaison between VA and VEO leadership, and the I&D team operations, including budgets, staffing, prioritizing, and negotiating. I managed requests for design, training, research, and consulting on a wide variety of projects across the VA. I helped match requests against the strengths and priorities of the team. Along with the I&D team, I helped craft the value and impact of team engagement and outputs on various initiatives, all in the name of empowering individuals and the overall team to create excellent work while negotiating the complexities of a large federal agency.

Project: Creating a malleable patient journey story and map, along with additional design-process tools, to both assist in uncovering pain points during a patient’s doctor visits, medication ingestion, and prescription experience; as well as prioritize and design solutions for various touchpoints where the most positive impact could be made.

Role: A long-term engagement leading research and strategy initiatives to translate user and business needs into website designs. Also led the creation of a sprint-based development release schedule.

Project: A research-based project with an internal Sequence team to assess the current state of STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education reform in public education. Created recommendations for our client of where and how they may have the most impact in the field.


UX Strategy and Design, Consultant

While at Hot Studio, I was on a team that created a complete redesign of the SFMOMA website, including research, strategic vision, a CMS strategy, and visual design.

As an independent consultant, I worked on multiple research initiatives to determine the audiences of SFMOMA’s multimedia assets and how the assets were being used. The effort led to strategic recommendations on how to extend reach while maintaining quality.
